New allotment letters were handed over to representatives of the Kajiado East community ranches in the latest land reform strategies within Kajiado County. The County Government is eager to clean up its land market, which has been muttered by unscrupulous traders for a long time.
Governor Joseph Ole Lenku says emerging land cartels are known to collude with family members to disinherit their kin. Speaking after handing over the newly designed allotment letters to the residents of Empuko Group Ranch in Kajiado west 2 weeks ago, the governor said that the validation process was a milestone and landowners could now use their prime plots for economic activities.

Since the County Government of Kajiado began an ambitious land reform program two years ago, more than 35,000 new generation allotment letters have been released. The letters were issued to plot owners in over 35 trade centers, paving the way for commercial and residential growth in the rapidly developing towns. After a thorough validation process in the trading centers, the highly protected documents were released.

Governor Lenku released the document last year, which has eight additional security enhancements over previous versions to shield landowners from theft. Some of the beneficiaries are women and youth groups as well as welfare groups and individuals. The validation process will resolve disputes on plots that had been issued with questionable documentation. The process will protect genuine landowners.
Governor Lenku also said that it was a significant move forward in the use of land as a factor of development and that his administration would work hard to protect legitimate investors and combat fraud.
The offices were opened to stimulate real estate, which is one of Kajiado’s main economic drivers, just as he had promised the reopening of the closed Ngong land Registry. The reopened offices comprise 14 all-new employees mandated to provide land services to the residents of Kajiado County. This was among the rebrand strategies conducted by the governor.
Among the towns whose new allotment letters have been validated are Namanga, Nkoile, Ibissil, Rombo, Ngāatataek, Loitokitok, Isinet, Isinya, Kisaju, Orum, Mashuuru, Kimana, and Oltepesi.
